2025-2026 Parent Right to Know
Printable version of the Parent Right to Know Letter
Dear Parents and Families,
This letter is to inform you that USD 383 receives Title I funding and will comply with “Parents Right to Know Information” required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) / Public Law Number 114-95. ESSA reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to ensure that every child achieves. ESSA is the nation’s general education law and, as such, has been revised by Congress many times over the years. The previous reauthorization took place in 2001 and was called the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).
Parents may request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s/children’s classroom teachers and paraprofessionals including:
- Whether or not the teacher has met Kansas licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas being taught.
- The baccalaureate degree and any other graduate certification or degree and the field of discipline of both.
- If services are provided by paraprofessionals, and their qualifications.
- If the teacher is teaching under an emergency or professional waiver.
Parents will be contacted by the school if their child(ren) is taught for four or more continuous weeks by a teacher that does not meet the appropriate state certification standards
All students/families served in school-wide buildings and students/families served in targeted assistance programs must complete a parent/school compact. All parents have the right to request their child’s/children’s state assessment scores, and they have a right to obtain the school and school district state report cards.
If you have questions or would like to request further information, please feel free to contact your building principal.
2025-2026 – Accessing District, Building, and School Report Cards
Printable version of the Accessing District, Building, and School Report Cards Letter
Dear Caregiver,
We want all our families to be informed about how to access building and assessment information. The information below has details about how to access the KSDE Building and District Report Cards, and how to access your child’s individual report card.
District and Building Report Cards
One report available to you is the State Report Card. This report is required and prepared by the Kansas State Department of Education. The report provides information concerning student performance on the Kansas Assessment Program (KAP), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. The Federal School Report Cards can be found on the KSDE website.
Student Report Cards
Student report cards are shared three times a year at the end of each trimester (October conferences, February Conferences, and at the end of the school year). Please contact your student’s school if you have questions about accessing copies of individual report cards.

Today is National Candy Day. Candies have a long history of attracting us with their bright colors and delightful flavors. They also come in a variety of fun sizes and shapes. Sugar has not always been readily available, so people made the first candies from honey and was originally used as a form of medicine.

Salut, Indians! France is known as the fashion capital of the world. Paris hosts amazing fashion shows, and famous designers like Coco Chanel and Louis Vuitton got their start there. So, if you love style, thank France!
Results for the 2025 Kansas State Fair Student Press Corps contest are in, and MHS Student Publications has a winner! In the category of Best Lead Story, Jonathan Moon won the top prize for his story titled “Explosive Experience” about the Dr. Goddard’s Lab area at the State Fair. His story was featured in the newspaper that was produced by a team of five members of The Mentor newspaper staff about events at the fair on Sept. 12. The students had just 8 hours to produce a four-page newspaper about the fair, while another team of five video producers created a five-minute newscast about the day. Congratulations to Jonathan and the MHS Student Media crew!
Tryouts for Winter Sports will begin on Monday, Nov. 17th. Winter sports include: Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys & Girls Wrestling, Boys Swim/Dive, and Boys & Girls Bowling. If you would like to try-out for a winter sport you will need a physical on file with the Athletic office, room S-102 before Nov. 17th! If you have already participated in a fall sport you do not need another physical. If you are unsure if you have a physical turned in, please stop by the athletic office and see Mrs. Wilson. The try-out times and locations will be posted outside the athletic office and online next week.
