SCHOOL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

OLIVER BROWN BIKE RODEO

  • Saturday, August 22, 2026
  • Oliver Brown Elementary - 4787 Jackie's Way
  • 8:30 am - 10:30 am
  • Volunteers are needed for Oliver Brown's Bike Rodeo.  A pancake breakfast provided by IHOP will be available for all students, families, and volunteers.
    • 9:00–10:30 AM — Bike Rodeo Activities
    • Students will participate in a safety talk, bike inspection, and the obstacle course.
    • Each activity will be ran by our partners from Pottawatomie Sherriff's Department.

BERGMAN ELEMENTARY MOVIE NIGHT

  • Bergman Elementary - 3430 Lombard
  • Friday, August 28, 2026
  • 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm (various 30-minute volunteer shifts available).
  • Volunteers may help with setup, handing out popcorn, candy and glow sticks, assisting families, and cleanup.  Every extra set of hands helps us make these fun events possible for our Bergman Dolphins!

EISENHOWER MIDDLE SCHOOL FALL SPORTS CONCESSIONS

  • Various Dates starting August 31 - October 13, 2026
  • Volunteers are needed to help the EMS Booster Club run the concessions for Football and Volleyball games.

AMS FALL SPORTS CONCESSIONS

  • Various Dates starting August 31 through October 13, 2026
  • Thank you so much for volunteering your time to help with the many activities that are offered at Anthony Middle School. Without all of your help we wouldn't be able to do all the things that we can for our school, students and staff.  It is imperative that if you sign up, you show up to work your shift or find someone to cover it.  In the past we had several parent/volunteer no shows and it puts us in a very tough position when volunteers don't show or cancel last minute.  Our school is located at 2501 Browning and you will park on the north side of the school and enter through the Activity entrance and proceed to the cafeteria.  For Football, you will check in at the Press Box. Thanks in advance for your support of Anthony Middle School and the Booster Club!

MHS CROSS COUNTRY HOME MEET CONCESSIONS

  • Saturday, September 5, 2026
  • Warner Park
  • Two Shifts available:
    • 7:30 am - 9:30 am
    • 9:30 am - 11:30 am
  • Volunteers are needed to help the concessions and coach's hospitality at the MHS Home Cross Country Meet.
    • When entering Warner Park you should not have to pay, let them know that you are working the concessions.
    • Volunteers can work both shifts if they would like.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL

  • SUNDAYS from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

  • Volunteers help coach, scrimmage, and/or support athletes. You don’t have to be a volleyball expert! Check in with Coach Jamie Schnee when you get there and be ready to have fun!

SPEEDY PD - RACE FOR PARKINSON'S DISEASE

  • Saturday, August 29, 2026
  • Tuttle Creek State Park
  • Various time slots available
  • The annual Speedy PD 5K/10K and Memorial Run/Walk benefits Meadowlark Parkinson's Program. The program provides services in the Flint Hills region to improve the quality of life for all those affected by Parkinson’s disease including persons with PD, caregivers, therapists, and nurses. Generous donations help ensure Meadowlark Parkinson's Program is able to continue and expand opportunities for education, outreach, scholarships for medical purposes, medical care, and create a future Parkinson's resource center for the Kansas region.
    • Road races take more than 100 people behind the scenes to insure a great experience for all participants. The volunteers are what make this event great!

OGDEN FRIENDSHIP HOUSE OF HOPE

  • Students can assist with a variety of tasks, including organizing donations, stocking and straightening our thrift store and food pantry, cleaning, and helping with other projects as needed. We are happy to work with students and provide documentation of their completed volunteer hours when necessary.

ACCORD HOSPICE

  • Accord Hospice is located at 3246 Kimball Avenue in the Candlewood Shopping Center.

    Volunteers are needed for:
    • Helping with the float and to pass out candy for the Mayor's Holiday Parade on December 6th
    • On-going assistance with clerical duties and making seasonal and/or thank you cards for patients and families.

  • There are endless opportunities for volunteering at Hope Ranch Therapeutic Riding Centers from working with the horses to direct interactions with the riders.

THE HOUSE CAFE

  • 230 Riley Ave, Ogden, Kansas
  • The House Café is a non-profit that is supported by the community.  We're growing more and more every day and are looking for volunteers to expand the House Café into a recreational space for kids of all ages.

 


 

MANHATTAN ARTS CENTER 

  • Whether you've volunteered in the past, you're required to complete so many volunteering hours, you're interested in the arts, would like to develop some skills, or would like to be part of our awesome family, there are many ways you can get involved. 

    Here are just a few:

    • Join a committee (theatre, gallery, Birdhouse, MACademy Youth Theatre, Salon Concerts, etc.).
    • Volunteer as an usher, doing box office sales, or be a house manager for performances.
    • Help with a theatre production making costumes, building sets, painting, running lights (we train you), stage managing, or - of course - acting.
    • Gallery exhibit set-up, hosting the exhibit, and tear-down.
    • Special and annual events like Wrap It Up.
    • Help with building maintenance, and cosmetic enhancements inside and out.
    • Become a Friend of the MAC.

    Volunteer needs are ever evolving, so check back here for current opportunities. Don't see the position you want, give us a call, and we can see how to make it happen. If you want to contribute in a specific way, we LOVE hearing ideas and getting creative. We work in the arts after all!

    No experience is needed (*for most roles) as we are happy to teach you, and each of these roles can help you develop your own personal & professional growth!

MART – MANHATTAN AREA RESETTLEMENT TEAM

  • MART works to help people and families in unsafe areas travel to Manhattan.  MART helps these refugees find housing, jobs, transportation, education, and healthcare.

PEACE-FULL PANTRY

2500 Kimball Ave, Manhattan, KS 66502

In September 2021, the PeaceFull Pantry was opened after realizing that many families in their community were struggling to have enough food to get through the week. Word got out and the Pantry was able to serve 300 people that first month. The Pantry continued to grow with the need and just finished a renovation project where we regularly feed 1,600 people a month. Our mission is to provide for those in the Manhattan area who are experiencing food insecurity, and to provide a welcoming environment with low barriers to service. The PeaceFull Pantry is supported by Peace Lutheran Church, Flint Hills Breadbasket and Harvesters Community Food Network, operating with one part-time director and many volunteers who are passionate about helping their neighbors. Your donations and prayers are always appreciated..

 


 

PURPLE PAWS ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY

  • Purple Paws is looking for people to help with fund raising activities in the community, setting up at adoption events in the community, caring for the animals at these events and transporting animals to and from these events.
  • Volunteers must be at least 14-years of age to be helping without a parent/guardian present and will need to have a liability waiver signed by their parent/guardian to volunteer.

 


 

STORMONT VAIL HEALTH

  • Ages 14 to 17
    Stormont Vail has a volunteer program for youth students ages 14 and older. Students can learn about the health care environment and gain life and work experience in many health care settings.
  • Applications will be accepted year round.
  • A commitment of at least one shift per week (or 2 shifts per month) for a 4-month commitment is required.
  • Complete the application process and participate in a free health assessment and Mandatory Orientation/training sessions, as required.
  • All healthcare workers (e.g. employees, medical staff, providers, volunteers, contractors, vendors and students) will be required to submit proof of Covid-19 vaccination to Employee Health.  Proof of vaccination is defined as having completed a full Covid-19 vaccination series as defined by the CDC (e.g. 2 dose series for Pfizer or Moderna, 1 dose for Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen and any associated booster shots required for full vaccination) and provide proof of completion of the vaccine(s) to Stormont Vail Employee Health or designee.
  • Volunteers must purchase their own uniform top through Volunteer Services.  Uniforms may be purchased at Orientation or First day of Volunteering. (Cash or Checks are payable to Stormont Vail Health)

TAP TO TOGETHERNESS ACROSS POPULATIONS

Are you looking to make a difference in your community through dance? Join our Tap To Togetherness Across Population! We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help bring the joy of tap dance to diverse community groups, including families with young children, the Special Olympics community, and senior living care residents.
Service Opportunity Details:

  • What: Volunteer with our Tap To Togetherness program, assisting with dance sessions, mentoring youth, and supporting community events.
  • Who: Open to individuals passionate about dance, community service, and making a positive impact. No prior dance experience is necessary!
  • Where: Various locations within the community, including local schools, community centers, and senior care facilities.
  • When: Flexible schedule based on your availability and event dates.

WONDER WORKSHOP CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

  • Wonder Workshop Children's Museum 
  • 506 South 4th Street, Manhattan, KS
  • MAP Requirements and Expectations 
    • The main goal of the Wonder Workshop Apprentice program for adolescents/teens grades 7-12 is to assist in the development of well-rounded thinkers and a sense of stewardship for our environment and community. 
    • MAP brings teens in and gives them a chance to be creative, meet and work with Wonder Workshop staff, participate in exhibit development, camp, and most of all, have fun!  Participants will have the chance to dive deeper into their interests and develop key skills through projects, field trips, and their time volunteering.
    • The program also gives participants the opportunity to develop identity formation (becoming an individual) and differentiations (forming identity outside and apart from family).
  • Requirements: 
    • Applicants must have completed 6th grade.

    • A minimum of two shifts at WWCM each month. (Approximately 6 hours a month) during the fall and spring semesters.  

    • Lead 8 activities throughout the year (summer camp lesson, birthday party, discovery day lesson, etc.) 

    • Attend regular meetings or training sessions

21st JUDICIAL DISTRICT YOUTH COURT

  • Youth Court Offers an alternative to prosecution by holding first time juvenile offenders accountable while also providing an opportunity to clear their criminal record.

  • Youth Court is held 1-2 times per month over Zoom. We need volunteers just like YOU to serve on the jury.

YOUTH IMPACTING COMMUNITY (YIC)

  • Youth Impacting Community (Y.I.C.) is a group of high school aged youth from the Manhattan, KS area who want to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Members of the group are given the opportunity to learn about community needs, participate in community service projects, and award grants to local non-profit organizations who serve youth.
  • Y.I.C. meets at least once a month during the school year to discuss the grants program, plan upcoming projects, and address any other agenda items. Members are asked to attend meetings and service projects as well as serve in leadership roles as club officers and committee members. In addition to the regular monthly meetings, the group participates in several community service projects throughout the year.
  • Area 9th - 12th grade youth are invited to be a part of Y.I.C.!
